The Emporia State baseball team split a doubleheader with Augustana Sunday.
Augustana won the first game 4-2 in 11 innings.
For Emporia State 3rd baseman Palmer Hutchinson drove in the 1st run with a single in the 2nd inning. Hutchinson hit a solo home run in the 11th.
Emporia State won the second game 6-1. Emporia State took the early lead in the 2nd inning Jake Bucovetsky hit a solo home run and Quinton Carlberg hit a 2-run home run.
Patryk Hernandez hit a solo home run in the 4th inning.
The Hornets added 2 runs in the 5th inning, Andrew Rantz drove in a run with a double and Jake Bucovetsky drove in a run with a single.
Ian Lanik was the winning pitcher going the full 7 innings giving up 1 run on 4 hits.
The Hornets are now 4-7 for the season. They are scheduled to play at Northwestern Oklahoma State Tuesday before opening MIAA play Friday at Northeastern State.
