An Emporia building principal is among the finalists for USD 252 Southern Lyon County superintendent with interviews coming Tuesday.
Dathan Fischer has served as Emporia High principal since July 2019. He has also served as a math teacher, special education coordinator and associate principal.
Two other finalists are set for interviews. Ryan Muhlig is currently the principal at Colby High, with prior experience as a social studies teacher, dean of students and assistant principal. Sean Spoonts, currently the principal at Eureka High, has prior experience as a physical education and health teacher, activities director and assistant principal.
The USD 252 Board of Education has a special meeting set for noon at the board office in Hartford. A superintendent contract is currently on the agenda, but there is no guarantee a finalist will be chosen Tuesday.
The district choice for superintendent will supplant Mike Argabright, who is retiring after 16 years leading the district.
