This is a busy time for the Emporia Arts Center.
The Performing Arts Series gets into high gear with two shows this week, including Malevo at the Emporia Granada Theatre on Thursday evening. Arts Center Director Dawn Young says the dance group from Argentina has performed with Ricky Martin, Cirque de Soleil and other internationally-known acts.
Malevo performs at 7 pm.
Next up is Dragons & Mythical Beasts, which will be at 3 pm Saturday, also at the Granada. Young says the show, which will bring a series of fantastical creatures to the stage, was created by the group responsible for Dinosaur World Live, which came to Emporia in 2017 as part of the Arts Center’s Performing Arts Series that year.
Tickets are $25 for adults and $12.50 for youths for both shows. Residents can get tickets by calling the Arts Center at 620-343-6473 or by going online to emporiaksarts.org.
Other upcoming shows include One Night of Queen on March 14, Naturally 7 on April 15 and Madagascar Live — the Arts Center’s first Broadway musical — on June 4.
