The Emporia Saint Patrick’s Day Committee has announced the beneficiaries for this year’s fundraising work.
On KVOE’s Morning Show on Wednesday, spokesperson Barb Lowery says it was a tough decision to go from 16 applicants to 12 final groups.
This year’s beneficiaries include:
• North Lyon County Veterans Memorial
• Hetlinger Developmental Services
• Buffy Welfare Group
• ESU Special Ed Planning Committee
• What’s In Outdoors Fund
• Transitions Program
• Camp Hope
• Olpe Downhome
• Forever Home Pet Rescue
• National Teachers Hall of Fame
• Imaginarium
• Emporia Spartan Boxing Club
The committee is changing up its main fundraising emphasis, shifting from the longstanding in-person auction at Bruffs Sports Bar and Grill to an online auction to post shortly on the Saint Patrick’s Committee Facebook page. The tentative dates are March 1-14. The committee is also emphasizing corporate sponsorships as a major fundraising mechanism. The parade will be in downtown Emporia on March 18.
