Emporia Highs Katina Keosybounheuang made the podium at the girls’ 5/6A state wrestling tournament Thursday.
Keosybounheuang finished in sixth place at 120 lbs losing by a decision in the fifth-place matchup to Emily Torres of Newton. Keosybounheuang finishes the tournament 3-3 and the season with a record of 30-10.
Kiona Flores Delgado (170 lbs) made it to the consolation quarterfinals with a win by fall over Malia Martin of Kansas City Piper. She would lose by fall to Jacqueline Goodman of Leavenworth.Ariana Estrada (105 lbs) and Alex Castillo (235 lbs) both made it to the second round of the consolation bracket. Head Coach Shawn Russel says they will be bringing a lot of experience back next season.
