The field is set for Emporia Main Street’s second annual Show of Hands pitch contest.
Six entrepreneurs are part of this year’s contest. Names will be divulged soon.
Now that the participation deadline has passed, Community Development Coordinator Jessica Buchholz is encouraging a big attendance for the contest at 5:30 pm March 9 at the Emporia Granada Theatre. Tickets are $10 each, and Buchholz says those attending can buy as many tickets as they like because they serve as votes for the different business presentations.
Besides the tickets, ESB Financial and NetWork Kansas are financial sponsors for cash grants, and several local businesses are on board with in-kind assistance like rent, legal help, signage and accounting support.
Besides Show of Hands, Main Street currently has several events coming, including the E-Tech Startup boot camp as a partnership with the Center on Rural Innovation in April and early May. Entrepreneurs still have time to register at emporiamainstreet.com. Main Street also has The Taste on April 15, the Glass Blown Open block party and food truck festival on April 29, the Cinco de Mayo festival partnership with Hispanics of Today and Tomorrow on May 6 and the Unbound Gravel Finish Line Celebration on June 3.
