Emporia State basketball teams close out regular season with wins over Washburn

The Emporia State basketball teams closed out the regular season with wins over Washburn Saturday.

The Emporia State women won their game 77-63.

Lady Hornet Coach Toby Wynn called it a good bounce-back win.

Tre’Zure Jobe led the offense scoring 30 points.

Jobe also finished with 7 steals which puts her at number 2 on the careers steals list. She also made 3 three-point shots which ties her for 3rd place with Addie Lackey for career made 3’s.

Victoria Price added 23 points in the win.

The Emporia State women finish the regular season with a 14-14 record and 9-13 in the MIAA.

The Emporia State men outscored Washburn 86-64. The Hornets only trailed for 24 seconds during the game. They outscored Washburn 52-32 to seal the win.

Coach Craig Doty was impressed with the 2nd half.

Owen Long scored a game-high 26 points to lead Emporia State. Kaden Evans added 13 points, Alijah Comithier finished with 12 points and Myuom Buom added 10.

Atavian Butler had a team-high 5 rebounds and added 5 points.

The Emporia State men finished the regular season with a 21-7 record and 15-7 in the MIAA.

The MIAA tournament begins Wednesday.

The Emporia State women will play Central Oklahoma at 8:15.

If they win they will play Central Missouri Thursday night at 8:15.

The Emporia State men will play their first game on Friday at noon against Lincoln.
