The Emporia High girls’ basketball cruised to victory in a sub-state semifinal Tuesday night 56-37 over Newton at Spartan Gymnasium.
Emporia High began the game on a 19-0 run and never looked back.
Coach Carolyn Dorsey says the Lady Spartans took care of business and responded with the emotions and festivities tied in with the game.
Addie Kirmer and Rebecca Snyder led Emporia High each scoring 19 points.
The Emporia High girls are now 17-3 on the season. They’ll host Maize South, who was a 49-30 winner over Salina South, at 7 p.m. Friday at Spartan Gymnasium. The winner of that game will earn a berth in the Class 5A state tournament at White Auditorium.
