As part of their weekly action agenda Thursday morning Lyon County Commissioners approved testing and inspection services for a major update project which is currently set to get underway next week.
Commissioners approved a better than $29,600 quote from Terracon for inspection and testing services on the new shop and bridge building for the Lyon County Highway Department. Lyon County Engineer Chip Woods.
Terracon will be conducting the inspection and testing work throughout each phase of the construction project.
The $5.4 million project will encompass more than 21,000 square feet and include a new maintenance shop and bridge shop.
The project is expected to take 12-14 months to complete weather permitting.
In other business, commissioners approved internal and external social media policies for both staff and residents as it pertains to behavior on county social media accounts. Public Relations Manager Vici Smith says these policies will allow the county to better monitor and police department accounts and remove any forms of “inappropriate” content.
Smith and commissioners also held conversations regarding the verification of all county social media accounts.
Separately Thursday, commissioners approved patrol vehicle cameras from Motorola Solutions at a total cost of $8,700, along with servers from Motorola at a cost of over $18,000 for the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office.
The signing of a Proclamation for recognition of AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP Volunteers in Lyon County and a quote from C. Allen For your Doors for a replacement garage door for Lyon County Area Transportation also gained unanimous approval.
Commissioners held two executive sessions, one for non-elected personnel and the other for legal matters, with no action taken. The Lyon County Commission will reconvene next Thursday at 9 am inside of the Lyon County Courthouse Commission Chambers.
