For 25 minutes the Emporia State men’s basketball team went toe to toe with Northwest Missouri State in the MIAA tournament semi-finals Saturday. The final 15 minutes belonged to the Bearcats. Northwest outscored Emporia State 63-52 to advance to the MIAA tournament championship game.
The game featured 9 ties and 2 lead changes in the first 25 minutes. Emporia State trailed most of the game their only lead came with 16:29 to play in the game at 31-30. Coach Craig Doty said they ran out of gas.
Alijah Comithier led Emporia State in scoring with 20 points. Mayuom Buom added 11 points.
Northwest had 4 players score in double-figures led by Wes Dreamer with 15 points.
In the other MIAA Tournament semi-final Central Oklahoma rallied for a 55-51 win over Fort Hays State.
Emporia State will have to wait for the selection show Sunday night at 10 pm to find out if they receive an at-large NCAA Tournament bid.
