The Olpe boys basketball team is one win away from heading back to the Class 1A-Division I State Tournament in Dodge City.
On Friday night, the Eagles cruised to an 80-35 victory over Flinthills in the Oswego Sub-state.
Olpe began the game on a 20-0 run in the first quarter and never looked back.
Olpe coach Chris Schmidt says his team was ready to go after having not played a game in 12 days.
Truman Bailey led Olpe with 22 points.
Olpe improved to 19-2 and will play Colony-Crest, who defeated Madison, 43-42. The Bulldogs led by as many as 12 in the first half. The Lancers took the lead on three different occasions in the fourth quarter, including the game-winning 3-pointer with two seconds remaining.
Madison coach Alex McNeal says the Bulldogs had their opportunities.
Lane Darbo led Madison with 14 points.
The Bulldogs end their season with a 12-10 record.
Olpe and Colony-Crest will be the second game of a doubleheader at Oswego. The Olpe girls and Madison will meet up for a trip to state on the line. That game will tip at 5:30 p.m. with the boys to follow at 7 p.m. You can listen to the games on Country 101.7 FM.
