As Severe Weather Awareness Week continues all week, a weather radio frequency serving part of the KVOE listening area is currently inoperable.
Topeka’s NOAA weather radio signal, WXK91 operating at 162.475 megahertz, is dealing with an unscheduled outage since late Monday afternoon. Technicians have been working since before sunrise to fix the issues, but no timetable is available for restored service.
The Topeka signal covers part or all of Morris, Osage and Wabaunsee counties. The outage developed ahead of the statewide tornado drill at 10 am Tuesday.
Residents affected by this outage can listen to several nearby transmitters.
