White Auditorium ready for tip-off of 5A state tournament Wednesday

The class 5A state basketball tournament returns to White Auditorium beginning Wednesday.

Tournament Director Tom McEvoy says his team is ready to go. He says preparations have been ongoing since last summer but ramped up this past weekend when the tournament brackets were finalized.

During an appearance on KVOE’s Morning Show Tuesday, McEvoy was asked how much longer White would likely host the 5A tournament. His response, “I don’t think 5A is going anywhere.”

Opening round games on the girl’s bracket will begin at 2 pm Wednesday. The boy’s first-round games will begin at 2 pm Thursday.

Semi-final games will be held Friday at 2 pm and 6 pm for the girls and 4 pm and 8 pm for the boys. Third-place games will be played Saturday at noon and 2 pm with the championship games scheduled for 4 pm and 6:15 pm.
