For the second consecutive year, the Emporia High girls basketball team had its season end in the quarterfinals of the Class 5A state tournament.
Andover ended the Lady Spartans’ season with a 58-48 victory Wednesday at White Auditorium.
Emporia High led on two different occasions early, but couldn’t regain the lead. The Lady Spartans trailed by as many as 11 and trailed 28-26 at halftime.
The Lady Spartans pulled within one in the fourth quarter at 44-43, but Andover closed the game on a 14-5 run.
Emporia High coach Carolyn Dorsey said the Lady Spartans battled from start to finish.
Rebecca Snyder led Emporia High with 18 points.
The Lady Spartans finish their season with an 18-4 record and graduate three seniors and return four starters for the 2023-24 season.
