Based on the number of homes sold year-to-year and the amount of time before being sold, the local housing market is slowing down.
Total home sales dipped from 36 in February 2022 to 25 last month. January had 15 home sales.
Meanwhile, homes were on the market for an average of 30 days before selling — easily the longest average time from listing to sale in over a year. Homes had been selling within 10 days of listing recently.
Greater Lyon County — the area outside the Emporia city limits — had similar trends. Nineteen homes sold in February, down from 32 a year ago but up from nine in January. Homes were on the market an average of 27 days before selling.
