Healthier Lyon County is continuing to expand its reach throughout the local area and is now helping to facilitate an upcoming project in Admire.
During a recent appearance on KVOE’s Morning Show, HLC Grant Manager Daphne Mertens stated they are working with Admire to create a new “multi-use court” in the community.
Mertens says the court will be able to accommodate multiple activities including basketball, tennis and pickleball. There is currently no timeline or dollar amount associated with the court project in Admire.
Mertens’ announcement of the Admire project comes as Healthier Lyon County is also working towards establishing accessible raised bed gardens. Mertens says this project is focused on helping make gardening and growing food easier for those suffering from mobility issues.
Mertens says the Community Garden Task Force, a subgroup of the Healthier Lyon County Coalition, is currently looking at living facilities and nursing homes as the ideal locations for the gardens to be located.
Separately, the coalition is also working in tandem with Lyon County Area Transportation to identify potential improvements for public transportation stops and is working to establish the “Unite Us” community-wide coordinated resource referral network.
