St. Mark’s Lutheran Church was so full that had to add extra seats for members of the community who wanted to see the Emporia Children’s Choir’s first concert Thursday evening.
The Emporia Children’s Choir is a new initiative created by local musician and director Anna Ryan for children between fourth and eighth grade. This is a free opportunity so children can learn more about music.
The choir has 14 children who practiced for eight weeks and performed two songs in their first concert. Then, they joined to sing the other songs with their guests, the Emporia High School Prelude and Concert choirs.
Following the concert members of the community and the choirs shared cookies and lemonade.
