The Lebo girls and boys will be playing for a Championship at the 1A Division II State tournament in Great Bend Saturday.
Friday night in the semi-finals the Lebo girls defeated Bucklin 52-37.
Lebo jumped out to an 8-0 lead and never trailed. Saige Hadley scored a team-high 22 points. Brooklyn Jones finished with 11 points.
Lebo Coach Patrick Gardners’ team will play Hanover in the Championship game.
Hanover defeated Beloit St. Johns Tipton 62-41. Tipoff for the girls’ championship game is set for 4 pm.
The Lebo boys advanced to the Championship game by defeating Axtell 68-52 in the semi-finals. Lebo outscored Axtell 23-7 in the 2nd quarter to take a lead they would not give up. Lebo Coach Dennis Becker says when you make shots it makes the game a lot easier to play.
The Lebo boys will play Greeley County in the Championship game. Greeley County defeated South Central 64-41. Tipoff for the Championship game is set for 6:15 pm.
Both games will be broadcast on MIX 104.9.
The Olpe boys’ quest for a third state championship in Class 1A-Division I fell short against Wichita Classical Friday afternoon in Dodge City, 45-44. Olpe Coach Chris Schmidt said Classical made just one more play than they did.
Olpe will play South Gray in the 3rd place game Saturday afternoon. Tipoff is set for 2 pm. The game will be broadcast on Country 101.7FM.
The Championship games are set for the 5A State tournament being played at White Auditorium.
In the girls’ Championship game, it will be St. Thomas Aquians playing Bishop Carroll.
In the boys’ Championship game, Andover will play Kapaun Mt. Carmel. Game times are 4 pm for the girls and 6:15 for the boys.
In the girls’ 3rd place game, Andover plays St. James Academy. In the boys’ 3rd place game, Hutchinson plays Highland Park.
