The Oscars came to Emporia on Saturday thanks to the No Coast Film Festival and members of the community were able to watch the different short films nominated for this year.
No Coast Film Festival presented the ten short films nominated for this year’s 95th Academy Awards in their respective categories. From 10 am to noon members of the community watched the five animation nominees and from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. they watched the five live-action nominees.
No Coast Film Festival Director Jon Leach says he had been planning this event for years even before joining to No Coast Film Festival because he wanted to bring the Oscars short film experience to Emporia.
No Coast Film Festival Programming Director Joshua Krenger says the event had a positive reaction and motivated the interest in short films for part of the community.
The 95th Academy Awards will take place at 7 p.m. Sunday on ABC.
The next events coming up for the No Coast Film Festival are the screening of the 1927 film CHICAGO with a community gathering on March 25 at the Lyon County History Center and the Fifth Annual Short Film Festival this August 25 – 27.
