The Emporia State men’s basketball season came to an end in the NCAA Central Regional tournament semi-finals Sunday. Minnesota Duluth outscored the Hornets 84-79.
Emporia State built a 21-10 lead in the first half only to have Duluth tie the game at 36 by halftime.
The second half belonged to Duluth, they outscored the Hornets 48-43.
Coach Craig Doty said the ball did not bounce their way.
Owen Long led Emporia State in scoring with 25 points. Alijah Comithier added 17 points.
Peyton Rogers-Schmidt finished with a double-double of 12 points and 13 rebounds. Atavian Butler also scored 12 points.
The Emporia State men finish the season with a 23-9 record.
Coach Craig Doty called the season a step in the right direction.
Alijah Comithier said there were a lot of positives this season.
Minnesota Duluth will play Southern Nazarene in the regional championship game Tuesday.
Southern Nazarene upset Northwest Missouri State 61-57.
