Strong City looks poised to add a splash pad by late summer.
Mayor Lydia Simmons says construction could begin within a month just east of the town’s community-built playground and just south of the fire department headquarters. She says this is a project with wide community appeal.
Work will begin after an upcoming site evaluation by Splash Pads USA. Early estimates have several features on a 40-foot-by-50-foot pad.
Simmons believes the splash pad could lead to increased economic activity, and Strong City isn’t alone in planning to add splash pads across our area. Community groups in Americus and Olpe are fundraising for splash pads in those towns.
Residents wanting more information about the Strong City splash pad can go to the City of Strong City Facebook page. Residents wanting to donate to the project can mail checks or bring donations to the City Clerk’s Office.
