The Salvation Army of Emporia is in need of donations for its food pantry as it gets ready for the Stamp Out Hunger food drive which will have a few updates this year.
At the start of the year, Emporia’s Salvation Army did a big change to benefit the community in need. Captain Mylie Hadden says the move to the upstairs floor in their facility helped residents in the accessibility of the food pantry.
Now, with a more accessible place the Salvation Army is in need of donations especially dry cereal, canned fruits and baked goods. Hadden says this will help to support the pantry while they get ready for the Stamp Out Hunger food drive.
This year, Stamp Out Hunger will take place the second week of May. Hadden says they will implement a new collection method for those residents who wish to donate that will help make the process smoother.
