Emporia city commissioners have a range of topics to discuss with meetings set for Wednesday.
In their action session, commissioners will have a public hearing following the closeout of a housing rehabilitation Community Block Grant and could approve in-car and body-worn cameras for Emporia Police. Commissioners could approve the annual Hazardous Sidewalk Program and they could accept a permanent easement from Emporia’s Radio Stations to help the David Traylor Zoo’s bus parking lot construction project. In addition, commissioners will discuss the city’s acquisition of the old Fanestil Meats production facilty just south of town to be turned into green space.
Commissioners will also take a look at the February financial report and will likely set the bid date and time for the annual Street Rehab project.
In the study session to follow, commissioners will look at an ordinance that could well lead to an increase in water rates, as well as a loan agreement with the Kansas Department of Health and Environment, a potential purchase and installation of an advanced metering project, a t-pad project at the Emporia Gol Course and mowing order policies and procedures.
The action meeting leads the process at 11 am. Both the action and study meetings will be in the Municipal Court Room.
