Several hearings alleging illegal drug or sexual abuse activity are taking place Wednesday in Lyon County District Court.
At 1:15 pm, Benno Janssen gets sentenced after originally being charged with aggravated offender registry violation and regular offender registry violation and later accepting a plea of attempted violation. Janssen was convicted of aggravated indecent liberties with a child under age 14 in a 2011 Crawford County case and was accused in Lyon County of multiple registry violations dating back to November 2021.
Timothy Ray Davis is set for a preliminary hearing at 2 pm on single counts of rape and aggravated sexual battery. Davis is accused of illegal sexual activity with a victim incapable of giving consent due to alcohol and/or drugs.
Also at 2 pm, Isaac Arron Lawrence has a pretrial conference. Lawrence faces one count of rape and two counts of aggravated indecent liberties, both involving the same child between the ages of 14 and 16, after an alleged incident on Christmas Eve 2021. Lawrence is also accused of furnishing alcohol to two children as part of the incident.
At 2 pm, Christopher A Diaz has a pretrial hearing for alleged marijuana distribution. Diaz is accused of distributing up to 450 grams of marijuana, as well as possession of cocaine, hydrocodone, psilocybin and paraphernalia following an alleged incident in May 2022. Prior charges of aggravated robbery, aggravated burglary, aggravated battery and aggravated assault have been dismissed.
Austin Levi Buckridge has a status hearing at 3:30 pm in his drug distribution case dating back to an alleged incident this past July. Buckridge is accused of distributing up to 450 grams of marijuana and up to 100 grams of cocaine, as well as possessing paraphernalia. Trial could begin Monday or March 27.
Also at 3:30 pm, Larry Kemmerer has a status hearing. He faces one count of indecent liberties, two of child endangerment and single counts of battery on law enforcement and interference with law enforcement after an alleged incident this past October. Trial could begin Monday, March 27 or April 10.
At 4 pm, Terry Don Cummings will be in court for a status hearing that could well set the start of trial in Lyon County’s first significant fentanyl distribution case. Cummings is accused of distributing over 200 fake oxycontin pills, as well as criminal possession of a firearm by a felon, after an alleged incident in January 2022. Trial could begin Monday, April 10 or May 1.
