10 am Tuesday: Burn bans announced for Chase, Wabaunsee counties with high winds expected Wednesday-Saturday
Over the next few days, you’ll probably need to hold onto…well…everything.
Extremely windy conditions are expected from Wednesday all the way to Saturday. National Weather Service meteorologist Matt Flanagan says this is a much longer period of windy conditions than most of us are used to.
Winds could be steady between 20-30 mph — but they could gust as high as 40-50 mph, especially Wednesday and Thursday. No red flag warnings have been issued, which would halt outdoor burns for the affected counties, but Chase County is in a burn ban all day Wednesday and Wabaunsee County has announced a burn ban until at least 6 am Thursday. Power outages are possible, high-profile vehicles will have issues and unsecured objects like Polycarts or lawn furniture will likely move about.
