The Emporia Recreation Commission is getting ready for its Annual Summer Scape camp, adding some changes that will facilitate the families and their organization.
Summer Scape will provide this summer different indoor and outdoor activities for children in the community between first and sixth grade. Marketing Director Shalla Bennet says this year the registration will open earlier than usual so they can plan better the activities.
Emporia Recreation Commission Assistant Director Amanda Gutierrez says the activities will require parents to fill out paperwork before registration that includes health history, authorization for emergency medical care or medications and a parent concern form for the children’s safety.
Families can start registering their children on March 27 or pick up a registration package in Emporia Recreation Commission offices at 313 W 4th Avenue, on March 20.
The Summer Scape activities will start May 22 to July 29 and this year the camp will be located at Walnut Elementary School and this year will include a program of Lider in Training to teach children about leadership skills.
