The Kansas State Wildcats advanced to the NCAA sweet 16 for the 18th time in school history with a 75-69 win over Kentucky.
The game featured 12 ties and 12 lead changes. Kansas State took the lead for good with 2:21 to play on an Ish Massoud 3-pointer.
K-State closed out the game on a 14-7 run.
Markquis Nowell led Kansas State in scoring with 27 points.
Keyontae Johnson finished with 13 points. Desi Sills and Nae’Qwan Tomlin both scored 12 points.
Kansas State Coach Jerome Tang said it came down to players making plays.
K-State advances to the East Regional Semifinals at Madison Square Garden in New York City, where the Wildcats will play No. 7 seed Michigan State on Thursday with tipoff set for 5:30 pm. The Spartans defeated No. 2 seed Marquette, 69-60, also on Sunday.
The other East Regional semi-final has Tennessee playing Florida Atlantic.
