The Emporia High girls soccer team opened its season Tuesday night with a 2-0 win over Junction City.
Lotte Spaans scored the first goal in the 35th. It’s her first goal as a Lady Spartan. She’s a Foreign Exchange Student who has also been a manager for the boys soccer team in the fall and a member of the girls basketball team this past winter.
Emeil Bennett scored the second goal in the 75th minute.
Coach Oscar Macias says it was fun to see the Lady Spartans play the right way.
The Lady Spartans are 1-0 on the season and 1-0 in the Centennial League. Up next is a non-league match at Topeka-Seaman on Thursday.
