For the first time, the Emporia State University Psi Chi chapter of the Psychology International Honor Society hosted a psychology fair for children of the community Tuesday evening.
The event had five different stations where children between the grades K-5 could learn about the psychology major as also the importance of mental health.
Vice president of Emporia State Psi Chi chapter and clinical psychology graduate student Jenna Ostrosky says children are usually exposed to other career paths different than psychology, so they wanted to change that and show them why this field of study is also important.
Psychology students planned each activity so children could interact and at the same time get immersed in what the psychology major is about. Ostrosky says each station focused on a specific psychology field of study and self-care tips.
