Doug Bjerkaas never thought he would have an opportunity to work for the PDGA.
The dream is now a reality for the current president of Dynamic Discs as Bjerkaas will begin his new role with the PDGA effective April 1.
Bjerkaas will be overseeing all the major championships held across the country. Bjerkaas tells KVOE News, he’s ready to make an impact in the disc golf world outside of Emporia.
Bjerkaas has been associated with Dynamic Discs since September of 2007. He became the Part-Time Events Coordinator at Dynamic Discs in January 2016. Bjerkaas’ role then became full-time.
While in Emporia, Bjerkaas has been the tournament director for five PDGA World Championships in seven years. Emporia will also hold world championships in 2024, 2025, and 2026.
Bjerkaas says his time in Emporia has treated him well.
A search for Bjerkaas’ replacement is currently underway according to Dynamic Discs founder Jeremy Rusco in a statement released Wednesday.
