Organizers of Emporia’s Community Baby Shower were extremely pleased with the large turnout of families from all walks of life who attended the eighth annual event earlier this week.
Organizer Gail Barrett says roughly 90 families attended the event and she says several of those in attendance are currently in “non-traditional” parenting situtations.
Barrett tells KVOE News that the world of parenting is ever-evolving and as such, they were very pleased to welcome several new and familiar vendors to this year’s event.
Looking towards the future, Barrett says she and her fellow organizers are hoping the event will continue its steady growth seen over the past several years. She adds they are hoping to continue branching out and expanding to more surrounding communities.
This year’s event was split into multiple sessions through the afternoon and early evening hours. Along with an opportunity to speak with local agencies and pick up needed information, parents also received a free Pack-N-Play courtesy of the Wade Barrett Memorial Fund.
