The USD 386 Madison Virgil Board of Education approved a trio of new hires during a special meeting Friday night.
First, board members approved the hire of Amanda Schild as the new elementary school principal effective in July. Schild currently serves as a science teacher at Emporia Middle School in USD 253 Emporia and brings leadership qualities to the role that made her a standout amongst the other candidates according to Board President Jeff Williams.
Schild says she is very excited to assume her new role calling it her “dream position” for her and her family.
Schild’s hiring follows the announcement from earlier this year that current superintendent and elementary school principal Steve Jowers would be taking the superintendent position at USD 448 Inman in July. Tammy Baird was recently appointed to replace Jowers as superintendent for the coming school year.
Also Friday, the board approved the hiring of Nathan Teichgraeber as the new Madison Head Football Coach and Zachary Nuessen as a PE teacher.
