Frisbees were flying on Saturday’s Monkey Island Open disc golf tournament.
Over 200 total members of the Emporia and surrounding community competed at Peter Pan Park. While those in the Rec and Junior divisions competed for trophies, one FPO and two MPO competitors in the Mixed and Pro Open divisions took qualifying spots in the Dynamic Discs Open.
Jackie Morris, event coordinator for Dynamic Discs, describes how the categories are suited to the player based on age, skill level, and competitive experience.
In addition to these divisions, the tournament held the Mixed and Women’s Pro 40+, Mixed Pro 50+, Mixed Pro 60+, Mixed Am 2, and the Women’s Am 2.
Morris says that disc golf truly is for anybody.
