Ag producers who haven’t filed their tax returns might get some help from an unexpected source: the US Department of Agriculture.
The USDA says it has partnered with tax experts to connect producers to resources and information for federal program payments and asset protection. A special page on farmers.gov includes information about preparing for tax season, how distressed borrowers can receive help through the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022, training resources, crop disaster payments and additional tax information. There is also a tax estimator tool.
