Five different public art projects are coming to Emporia, thanks in part to funding from the Visit Emporia Community Arts Alliance.
This follows two projects through the alliance last year — the community-painted mural at Earthly Delights and Deon Morrow’s murals at Las Casitas Park. Visit Emporia Director LeLan Dains says the Arts Alliance brings a wealth of knowledge to the table as it looks to expand public arts offerings locally.
Projects receiving funding this year are:
*An Hispanic Heritage mural on the east-facing wall of Taqueria El Marmol, 23 East Sixth, is receiving $7,000
*A community-painted mural on the north side of Trolley House Distillery, 502 South Commercial, will receive $6,000
*The Faces of Emporia photo wall on the south side of the Nick Jacobs American Family Insurance building, 907 Commercial, is getting $5,675
*The Art Market entrance to the annual Halfway to Everywhere Music and Arts Festival gets $1,000
*The Barriletes Gigantes kite project for the 2023 Empovia gets $1,000
