The Emporia State baseball team rallied for an 8-7 win over Pittsburg State Tuesday night.
Emporia State Coach Seth Wheeler liked how several young players answered the challenge.
The game was tied at 4 after the 2nd inning. The first two innings included 9 walks.
Pittsburg State would take a 7-4 lead on a 2-run home run by Austin Warkins in the 4th inning and a solo home run by Ryan Koval in the 6th inning.
Emporia State would score two runs in the 6th on a Kadyn Williams triple and T J Racherbaumer double.
They would score 2 more runs in the 7th inning on a Kadyn Williams sacrifice fly and Chandler Bloomer single.
Brayden Tower was the winning pitcher. He worked the final 3 innings giving up no runs on 1 hit with 5 strikeouts and 1 walk.
Kadyn Williams was 3 for 3 with 2 RBI and 2 runs scored.
Brenden Tauber was also 3 for 3 with 2 runs scored and an RBI.
Jake Daneff, making his first start, was 2 for 3 with 2 RBI.
With the win, the Hornets improve to 12-19, and they are 7-10 in the MIAA.
Pittsburg State falls to 21-8 and 13-4 in the MIAA.
Emporia State will host Rogers State in a 3-game series beginning Friday.
