A low-end risk of severe weather and critical fire conditions are part of the weather forecast the next two days.
The Storm Prediction Center has issued a marginal severe weather risk, the lowest on its scale, for all area counties late Thursday night. All hazards are possible but highly unlikely if storms develop.
The severe weather risk stays well east of the KVOE listening area for Friday, but high winds have already led to a fire weather watch involving Chase and Greenwood counties for Friday. Wind gusts, which will be in the 40-50 mph range Thursday, will stay in that range all day Friday. Fire weather watches often lead to red flag warnings, which mean automatic burn bans for affected counties.
Breezy conditions will remain in place for the weekend into early next week.
