The Kansas City Royals were shut out 2-0 by the Minnesota Twins in their season opener Thursday.
The Royals were able to scratch out only 2 hits. One for Salvador Perez and one for Kyle Isbel.
Minnesota scored both runs in the 6th inning. The Twins scored 2 runs on 10 hits.
Zack Greinke suffered the loss going 5.1 innings, giving up 2 runs on 6 hits with 4 strikeouts.
Royals Manager Matt Quatraro said he would take that for the first game of the season.

Before the game, the Royals named Salvador Perez the team captain.
He becomes just the 4th player in Royals history to be named a team captain.
He joins Royals Hall of Famers George Brett (1989-93), Frank White (1989-90), and Mike Sweeney (2003-07) as the only team Captains in club history.
