There has been a change in legal counsel for a Strong City man accused of having and trying to distribute child sexual abuse materials.
Walter Haskin had been represented in federal court by Lynn Burke, but Burke has been replaced by David Freund, an assistant federal public defender for the US District of Kansas.
Haskin is accused of trying to upload child sex abuse materials involving a 6-year-old child to a Dropbox account in November 2021. He is also accused of having child sex abuse images on his cell phone.
The schedule for Haskin’s trial is to be determined. Haskin was set for trial Feb. 27, but the federal Public Access to Court Electronic Records website lists separate notices of a canceled hearing and an intent to change plea, both posted Feb. 9. No additional information has been posted or released.
