The Lions of Logan Avenue were launching discs around Soden’s Grove Saturday for the fifth annual Lion Launch Disc Golf Tournament.
More than 100 teams and individuals took part in the fundraiser for Logan Avenue much to the pleasure of organizer and Logan Avenue music teacher Samuel Barrett. Barrett says since its inception, the tournament has grown from a small fundraiser into what he believes is a much anticipated annual event.
This year’s tournament shifted from Peter Pan Park to the course at Soden’s which is not available for play year-round. Dynamic Discs set up the course for the event and DD Events Coordinator Jackie Morris says the location could not have been more perfect.
Along with the tournament itself, the day included lawn games, a bake sale, a raffle, tours of the David Traylor Zoo and rides on the Sertoma Club miniature train.
Proceeds from the tournament will go to support field trips and learning opportunities for Logan Avenue students. Totals from the event are currently pending.
