Emporia Spartan Boxers Mercedes Silvey and Junior Robles are returning to Emporia with regional championships following competition in Hutchinson Saturday.
Silvey and Robles competed at the 2023 Kansas and Oklahoma Golden Gloves regional competition with both gaining wins by unanimous decision.
With the win, Silvey improved her current win streak to three. Robles now advances to the Golden Gloves National Tournament of Champions to be held in Pennsylvania this May. This is the second consecutive national qualification for Robles.
Silvey did not have the minimum number of hours to qualify for the national tournament.
