(K-State/KU) Kansas State Coach Jerome Tang has been selected as the Naismith Mens Coach of the year.
Tang guided Kansas State to a 26-10 record and was also the Big-12 Coach of the Year.
Tang becomes the first K-State head coach to earn the Naismith coaching honor and just the third to be selected as National Coach of the Year, joining Fred “Tex” Winter who was chosen for the honor by United Press International (UPI) in 1958 and Jack Hartman who was named the NABC Coach of the Year in 1980.
KUs Jalen Wilson was the recipient of the Julius Erving Award honoring the men’s basketball top small forward in NCAA Division I. As selected by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
Wilson was also one of four Naismith Trophy and one of five Wooden Award finalists, Wilson is Kansas’ 32nd all-time Consensus All-America First Team honoree. He is also the unanimous Big 12 Player of the Year and All-Big 12 First Team selection, Wilson led the Big 12 in scoring at 20.1 points per game, rebounds at 8.3, and double-doubles with 12.
