Emporia City Commissioners have a lenghty study agenda ahead of them Wednesday.
Commissioners are set to discuss an agreement for the operation of the Jones Aquatic Center for the 2023 swim season presented by the Emporia Recreation Commission. The proposed agreement, approved by the ERC last week, includes a significant increase in the annual operation fee from $47,000 to $155,000 to help support increases in salaries for JAC employees.
Commissioners will also discuss future funding of the ERC, review city commission goals, review proposed revisions to the city’s RHID policy and will discuss commission liaisons on various boards. The study session will precede the commission’s regular action meeting.
That agenda is relatively light with the only action items being recognition of the city’s accounting department for receiving the annual GFOA comprehensive financial award and the appointment of members to the Emporia Public Library Board.
One executive session is also planned. The meetings begin at 11 am inside of the Municipal Courtroom at White Auditorium.
