Reinvestments continue at Emporia State University with enhancements to the Business Administration program.
ESU has added two new concentrations, one in management and another in marketing. This means the overall program now has 11 concentrations available for students:
*Accounting Services
*E-Commerce
*Entrepreneurship
*Financial Services
*Human Resource Management
*Insurance
*International Business
*Management
*Marketing
*Marketing Communication
*Sales Management
Dean of the School of Business Dr. Ed Bashaw says this move will help broaden the students’ experience in business and, combined with the specialized education in their respective concentrations, will make them attractive to prospective employers. The new concentrations also follow discussions between university leaders and area employers, which indicate businesses are looking for three main strengths; a well-rounded background, job-specific skill sets and a range of “soft” skills.
Reinvestment announcements have already been publicized for disciplines like nursing; Liberal Arts and Sciences; Diversity, Equity + Inclusion; Social Sciences, Sociology and criminology; communications; business; teachers education and music. Additional announcements are expected as the semester continues. Reinvestments have followed Board of Regents approval of the university’s Framework for Workforce Management, which led to dismissals for over 30 faculty and staff.
