For the second time this week, the USD 252 Southern Lyon County Ballot has grown.
Thursday, Charles Steffes filed for re-election to Position 7, becoming just the second candidate to seek re-election after current Board President Emily Darbyshire filed for Position 5. Steffes is the third candidate to file overall and follows Justin Farr who filed Wednesday for Position 4 which is currently held by longtime board member Kevin Flott.
Flott has not filed for re-election at this time.
The candidate filing and withdrawal deadline is still nearly two months away at noon June 1. Also on the Lyon County ballot are USD 253 Emporia board member Jeremy Dorsey and Americus City Council member Nicolette Nuessen.
The 2023 election cycle involves school boards, city councils, city commissions and mayors. If enough candidates file for election, there will be a primary Aug. 1.
