Small grass fires have been reported in Lyon County on Friday.
A small fire was reported shortly before 12:15 pm near Roads 130 and P, followed by another fire near Roads 250 and F shortly before 2 pm. Emporia Rural handled both fires.
Emporia Fire says both began as controlled burns that then became out of control scorching close to an acre at each scene. Americus and Dunlap crews were later called to 579 Road 290 for a brush fire just before 3 pm.
In separate but related fire news, the National Weather Service has issued a red flag warning from 12-8 pm Saturday for Morris County. The National Weather Service expects wind gusts as high as 30 mph, coupled with relative humidity levels at 20 percent or below.
