Emporia and area fire crews have been responding to fire activity across portions of the listening area through the afternoon hours Monday.
Allen-Admire, Americus, Dunlap, Miller and Reading fire crews were called to the intersection of US Highway 56 and Road C, a little over 25 miles north northwest of Emporia and 4.5 miles west of Bushong, around 2:30 pm. The amount of acreage affected has not been announced.
Shortly before 3:20 pm, Emporia and Americus fire crews were called to a second grass fire in the 300 block of Road 180 just over 8 miles west of Emporia. No injuries or structural damage have been reported with either fire.
