With The Taste fast approaching this weekend, Emporia Main Street administrators are still processing a ton of information gathered during the Main Street America national conference in Boston, Massachusetts, late last month.
Executive Director Casey Woods called it a great trip, in part because Main Street could meet with representatives of significant funding groups to talk more about local projects.
Woods also says Emporia’s economic development initiatives and business support methods are unique to a lot of fellow Main Street organizations.
Besides making presentations, Community Development Coordinator Jessica Buchholz says Main Street also heard about various successes from other Main Street programs across the country, especially concerning travel and tourism. While those ideas are developing, she says the conference was important because it points out the local partnership to enhance the quality of life.
The Taste, meanwhile, will be from 6:30-9:30 pm Saturday at White Auditorium and will again feature vendors from across Kansas offering samples of beer, wine, spirits and food. Tickets are $50 a person and a few spots remain. Residents can go online to emporiamainstreet.com or call 620-340-6430 to register.
