The Texas Rangers defeated the Kansas City Royals 11-2 Monday night.
The Royals scored 1st, Bobby Witt jr scoring on an error. Hunter Dozier added a solo home run in the 7th inning. In between the two runs Texas scored 11 runs.
7 runs were scored in the 6th inning highlighted by a grand slam.
Texas starting pitcher Andrew Heaney kept the Royals in check striking out 9 consecutive batters. That tied the American League record.
It’s the 2nd time the Royals have been a part of the consecutive strikeout record. In 2012 Detroits Doug Fister struck out 9 consecutive Royals hitters.
Royals Manager Matt Quatraro, who was back in the dugout after missing several games due to Covid, said there were some positives.
The Royals will try to bounce back Tuesday night in Texas. Jordan Lyles, looking for his first win with the Royals, will be the starting pitcher. Jacob DeGrom will be the starting pitcher for the Rangers. The first pitch is set for 7:05 pm. The game will be broadcast on KVOE 1400AM/96.9FM.
