Home sales are picking up speed again after a brief slowdown.
Homes sold last month in Emporia took an average of five days before they were sold — well below the 30-day average seen in February. Homes have been selling within 10 days or less of their initial listing for most of the past two years.
Emporia had 34 homes sold in March, above the 25 sold in February but down slightly from the 37 sold a year ago. Sunflower Association of Realtors says there is one month’s worth of housing supply currently available.
So far this year, Emporia has had 74 homes sold, down from 89 year-to-date last year and 97 two years ago.
There were similar trends in greater Lyon County outside the Emporia city limits. Homes sold within four days of initial listing on average, well below the 27-day average seen in February. There is now just under one month’s worth of supply.
Sunflower Association of Realtors says there were 26 homes sold in greater Lyon County, up from 19 sold in February. Year-to-date, there have been 54 homes sold, down from 76 last year and 81 two years ago.
